Patriarch Irinej meets with representatives of Islamic Community of Serbia and Jewish community of Serbia

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch received today, on June 22, 2011 Mr. Isak Asiel, Rabi of Belgrade, and Mr. Muhamed Jusufspahic, Mufti of Serbia. The talk was about a theme of Interview was conducted on the acquired knowledge and experience after a three-week stay in the United States on the Program entitled "The role of religion in addressing social issues in the United States" which lasted from 9th to 28th of May in several American cities (Washington, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, Dallas, Akron and New York).

The one hour talk presented many topics related to problems in resolving social problems in our country, and the implementation of some of the models covered by the program. Also   specific actionswere agreed that should affirm whole society in the Republic of Serbia, and in connection with the publication of clear and loud promotion of timeless values of healthy family, healthy school, healthy media, healthy relationships among everyone and everything, which are prerequisites for successful operation of all segments of society.   

Also, His Holiness agreed that it is necessary to ensure freedom of burying the remains of members of the Islamic community at the Belgrade and other cemeteries, in the specially marked and separate part, with the freedom of an undisturbed conduct of the prayer rules.

Participants of the program held in the United States also were Imam Dr Adnan Ahmedi in the name of the Islamic Community of Presevo, Mr. Drasko Đenović in the name of the"Christ Church", Forum 18 reporter who monitors the status of religious freedom around the world. On behalf of the Serbian Orthodox Church, deacon Aleksandar Sekulic from the Office of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch participated in the program.
