Patriarch IRINEJ receives the best pupils in Serbia

His Holiness IRINEJ, Serbian Patriarch received today in the Serbian Patriarchate in a presence of His Grace Vicar Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno the best pupils of the Mathematical high school in Belgrade, with their professor of religion Mr. Predrag Djuknic.

The Mathematical high school is a school of the special national significance, which educates pupils from fields of science. The achievements of this high school have been famous for 44 years, but this generation of the graduates exceeds all previous. The pupils: Luka Milicevic, Dusan Milijancevic, Ognjen Ivkovic, Nikola Mrksic,Mihajlo Cekic, Aleksandar Vasiljkovic, Dusan Petrovic and Natalija Dragovic; received full scholarships of  prestigious universities in Europe and America. They won the greatest medals at the international olympiads  in physics, mathematics and astronomy, the St. Sava's Prize of the Ministry for education and many other prizes and recognitions.

They all have attended the classes of religion during their four-year education.

His Holiness IRINEJ, Serbian Patriarch welcomed them and wished that in the near future they represent the Serbian people as one Milutin Milankovic, Nikola Tesla, Mihajlo Pupin or Mileva Einstein.

After exchanging gifts,while they were leaving, the pupils promised their Patriarch that by their example and further results would show they were worthy representatives of the descendants of Saint Sava and the Holy Nemanjics.

Then the guests visited the Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church, where, thanks to the staff, they looked through all the exhibits that were showcased and were particularly interested in the period around the Battle of Kosovo (the robe of Prince Lazar, which was made before 1389, and King Milutin's cloak from the end of 13th and the beginning of 14th century). On behalf of the Museum, Mr. Miroslav Ilic presented them books  to remind themselves of the data from the Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which they heard on this occasion.

Before they left they all like the zealous Orthodox went to the chapel of St. Simeon the Myrrh-Gushing to pray the Lord.
