Patriarch Irinej receives Commander of the Cypriot National Guard

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, received the Commander of the Cypriot National Guard Lieutenant General Elias Leontaris, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Ljubisa Dikovic, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 5 June 2018.

Lieutenant General Leontaris thanked His Holiness for the cordial reception during which they had conversations about mutual efforts of the state and religious institutions in fighting against all forms of threats to security in Serbia, on Cyprus and in the world.

Serbian Patriarch Irinej thanked Lieutenant General Leontaris for the visit and his efforts towards the development of mutual projects between Cypriot and Serbian Armies whereby fruitful cooperation is being fostered for the benefit of all the citizens of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Cyprus.

The audience was attended by some officers of the Cypriot National Guard and the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, chief military chaplain Srdjan Vlajic and the head of the Office of Serbian Patriarch deacon Aleksandar Prascevic.
