Patriarch Irinej serves the Liturgy in Ruzica church
His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch served on February 15, on the feast day of the Meeting of the Lord (Sretenje) the Divine Liturgy in Ruzica church on Kalimegdan. He was concelebrated by many priests and deacons, and the choir of this holy church chanted.
Patriarch Irinej, after the Holy Liturgy, served the memorial service to army leaders and soldiers for the Christian faith and the fatherland in all liberation wars. The Ruzica was the military church, and and chandeliers in the temple are made of military sabers and bullets of various calibers. Not far from the Ruzica church there is an ossuary of the fallen soldiers from the First World War, and this memorial service to the fallen soldiers has been served on the Meeting of the Lord for more than a century, when names of more than thousand of soldiеrs have been mentioned. In the Church of Ruzica on the Meeting of the Lord Serbian komitadjis used to met, and they had fought before the Balkan wars for the liberations of Old Serbia and Macedonia, and after the Second World War their descendants.
