Patriarch Irinej serves at the Representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church
On Tuesday, 23 July 2013, on the feast of the Placing of the Precious Robe of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Moscow and to a prayerful remembrance of venerable Anthony of Pechersk, His Holiness Irinej served the Divine Liturgy at the Representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Moscow.
Concelebrating along with the members of the Serbian church delegation there was also dean of the Novospasky stavropegic monastery in Moscow Bishop Sava of Voskresensk. Ambassador of Serbia Slavenko Terzic and president of the International Fund of Unity of Orthodox Peoples V.A. Alekseyev prayerfully participated in the Liturgy. The diplomatic choir of the Embassy of Serbia in the Russian Federation sang responses.
Bishop Antonije thanked Patriarch Irinej for the joy of the mutual prayer and granted him Panagia and the pectoral cross.
Patriarch Irinej presented pectoral cross and Panagia to Bishop Antonije on the occasion of the anniversary of his chirotony, and granted the church an icon of Christ the Saviour.
As a token of appreciation for the fervent dedication to the glory of the Church patron of the Podvorye, A.N. Kurenkov received a high award of the Serbian Church – an Order of Holy King Milutin.
After the service, in honor of Patriarch Irinej a solem lunch was prepared at the premises of the Representation. Then the member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Arts V. N. Rzhevsky presented the head of the Serbian Church the highest award of the Academy – the Golden Cross. This award was received also by Bishop Antonije of Moravica.
