Patriarch Irinej talked with President Vucic

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, met with President of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, on September 14, 2020.

In an open conversation President Vucic informed the Patriarch about the negotiations on Kosovo and Metochia that had been held in Washington and Brussels at the beginning of the month, as well as about the talks with some world statesmen. They also considered the position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metochia, in Montenegro, Croatia, Republic of Srpska, but also in other areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina.Special attention was paid to the announcement of a number of ambitious projects for the sake of the future of Serbia.

His Holiness the Patriarch expressed special interest in the investments in improving the health system, and especially praised the fact that the state has started reconstruction of ten public hospitals and a construction of a new clinical center in Belgrade.

The President mentioned that this was only the first phase, and that the reconstruction of thirty more general hospitals was planned, as well as a construction of clinical centers in Novi Sad and Kragujevac.

The meeting was attended by the Vicar Bishop Stefan of Remesiana, personal secretary of the Patriarch Dejan Nakic and Secretary General of the President of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selakovic.
