Patriarch Irinej visited the property of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Sremski Karlovci
His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch visited on July 14, 2011 Sremski Karlovci, where His Grace Bishop Vasilije of Srem - the member of the Presidency of the Patriarchal Head Board, protopresbyter-staurophor Stojadin Pavlovic - director of the Patriarchal head office and a team of professional associates informed him about the condition of local assets of the Serbian Patriarchate.
The traditional values of our architecture and objects of the great significance for the Serbian Church and its people, like the St. Sava's house and Stefaneum, after being used for many decades by the state institutions are now devastated. Neither in better condition is the complex of Court's garden which has been brought back recently to the true proprietor - the Serbian Patriarchate by the decision of the Direction for restitution. At the moment, a preparation of the project documentation for the reconstruction of the St. Sava's house and Stefaneum is being developed, as well as for a revitalization of the Court's garden.
His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch also inform himself in detail with the subject of the return of vineyards of Karlovci which were confiscated by the Communist authorities 50 years ago.
His Holiness visited also the Karlovac Seminary of St. Arsenije where he was informed by protopresbyter-staurophor Jovan Petkovic, the dean of this renown church educational institution, along with professors about the work of the school and current business.
The Patriarch also on this occasion visited manufacturing facilities of the Candle factory and the Wine cellar of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Sremski Karlovci.
