Patriarch Kirill donates one million rubles for construction of Orthodox school in Kaliningrad

Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill made a decision to transfer one million rubles (about $30,000) due to him in his capacity of the first honorary citizen of the Kaliningrad region for the construction of an Orthodox school in the city. "Money will be transferred for the second phase construction of the school centrally located behind Christ the Savior Cathedral in Kaliningrad," Patriarch Kirill said at the dinner with journalists during his visit to his former diocese.

The construction of school, he said, would be difficult to perform, because as a consequence of the crisis, "currently, there is no financial support we used to have before."

The honorary citizenship of Kaliningrad was granted to Patriarch Kirill last Saturday at the ceremony held in an art gallery of Kaliningrad in attendance of regional and city authorities.
