Patriarch Porfirije presented annual scholarships to final year students of the founding faculties of the University of Belgrade
On February 12, 2022, on the feast of the Holy Three Hierarchs, at a ceremony in the crypt of Saint Sava Cathedral Church, His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch, presented scholarships to final year students of the Faculty of Medicine, Electrical Engineering, Law, Philosophy, and Theology, selected in a contest.
In that sort of evangelical love and noble endeavor, the Serbian Business Association and Humanitarian Fund "Privrednik," also participates. Founded in 1897, it also provides scholarships to gifted pupils and students, while His Holiness Porfirije has been its chairman and benefactor for an entire decade.
Among attendees of the first solemn awarding of annual scholarships to final year students of the Faculty of Philosophy, Medicine, Electrical Engineering, Law, and Theology of the University of Belgrade were Their Graces Bishops Stefan of Remesiana, Jerotej of Toplica and Justin of Hvosno, Rector of the University of Belgrade, Professor Vladan Djokic, Ph.D.; Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities Mr. Vladimir Roganovic, Ph.D.; Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Professor Dejan Gvozdic, Ph.D.; Dean of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology Professor archpriest Zoran Rankovic, Ph.D.; professors of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology protopresbyter-staurophor Vladimir Vukasinovic, Ph.D., and presbyter Srboljubh Ubiparipovic, Ph.D.; Director of the Patriarchal Administrative Office protosynchellos Danilo (Gavranovic); Director of the Information and Publishing Institution of the Serbian Orthodox Church Mr. Dusan Stokanovic; Rector of Saint Sava Seminary deacon Radomir Vrucinic; representatives and scholarship holders of the Humanitarian Fund "Privrednik'' and numerous students.
The Commission, which with the blessing of His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch, consisted of: Bishop Justin of Hvosno, Coordinator of charitable and missionary activities of the Archbishopric of Belgrade and Karlovci; Archimandrite Danilo, Director of the Patriarchal Administrative Office; and Sandra Dabić, MA, Secretary of the Committee for Religious Instruction of the Archbishopric of Belgrade and Karlovci; in accordance with the rules determined by the contest for scholarships for final year students of the full-time faculties of the University of Belgrade, published on December 22, 2021, taking into account the average grades and financial situation of 148 students who submitted documents, decided to one-year scholarships will be awarded to students: Teodora Stevanović, student of the Faculty of Philosophy; Nikola Šurjanac, student of the Faculty of Law; Stefan Stakić, student of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology; Vasilije Stambolić, student of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering; Sonja Lukendić, student of the Faculty of Medicine; Stefan Povrenović, student of the Faculty of Philosophy; Isidora Arsenović, student of the Faculty of Medicine; Zorana Jevtić, student of the Faculty of Law; Stefan Pajić, student of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology; Stefan Simonović, a student of the Faculty of Philosophy, as well as Aleksa Zubelić, a student of the Faculty of Medicine.
