Patriarchal Blessing for the patients of “St Nektarios” Palliative Care Centre
The Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church visited on Wednesday, 23 December 2015, St Nektarios Palliative Care Centre in Bucharest.
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel met 28 patients of the Care Centre. His Beatitude discussed with them, addressed to them encouraging words and offered them different gifts.
At the end of the visit, the psaltic group Tronos of the Patriarchal Cathedral interpreted several traditional Christmas carols.

Inaugurated in 2012 by His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, St Nektarios Palliative care Centre is a hospital unit under the aegis of The Joy of Helping Foundation of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, which provides palliative care services for patients with end-stage oncological diseases. These services aim to improve the quality of life by providing both medical and spiritual care, consisting in treating physical pain and psychological suffering caused by the disease.
The hospital unit of St Panteleimon Parish in Bucharest provides the following socio-medical services: hosting, palliative medical care, spiritual and psychological counselling.
Each year, St Nektarios hospice provides free hospitalization for approx. 500 patients diagnosed with end-stage oncological diseases.
