Patron of the Diocese of Timisoara in the light of the jubilee of the Church
On the occasion of the feast day of Saint Joseph of Timisoara, the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Timisoara solemnly celebrated the great jubilee – 800th anniversary of the autocephaly of the Serbian Church. - Hierarchs Nikanor, Lukijan and Isihije celebrated.
The celebration of the feast day of Saint Joseph of Timisoara, the Patron of the Diocese of Timisoara began on the Eve of the feast day, 27th September 2019, in the Cathedral church of the Ascension of the Lord in Timisoara, where the feast day’s Vigil service was celebrated by His Grace Bishop of Budim and Administator of Timisoara Lukijan.
The Bishop was concelebrated by Abbot Nikon Koricanac, hieromonk Varnava Knezevic and Deacon Stefan Milisavic. Following the vigil service there was a promotion of a new issue of Glasnik, the magazine of the Diocese of Timisoara as well as promotion of the album Sârbii din România: istorie, spiritualitate, cultură (the Serbs in Romania: History, Spirituality, Culture).
On Saturday, September 29th, 2019, the Diocese of Timiksoara celebrated its Patron and protector Saint Joseph of Timisoara with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy officiated by Their Graces Bishops Nikanor of Banat, Isihije of Mohacs and Lukijan of Budim and Administrator of Timisoara in the Cathedral church of the Ascension of the Lord in Timisoara.
Clergy and monks from the Dioceses of Timisoara and Budim prayerfully participated, as well as faithful from many places of the Diocese of Timisoara.
At the end of the Liturgy, Bishop Lukijan awarded Mr. Vladan Tadic, General Consul of the Republic of Serbia in Timisoara; Mr. Ognjen Krstic, President of the Association of the Serbs in Romania; and Mr. Slavoljuba Adnaca, Serbian member of the Romanian Parliament with the Order of the Diocese of Timisoara.
After the Liturgy a procession until the Diocesan court was organized.
