Patron Saint-Day of Holy Archangel Gabriel Monastery in Kovilj

Патријарх Порфирије: The angelic world was created to serve our salvation. In addition to being patron angels, they are also role models in their determination to serve constantly, uninterruptedly, tirelessly the will of God, the love of God, and the Church of God, that is, us people. We need to look up to angels; to try to turn our whole life into a constant service of God.

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch officiated the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the Holy Archangel Gabriel Monastery in Kovilj, on the occasion of the Patron Saint-day of that holy family - the Synaxis of the Holy Archangel Gabriel. The Patriarch was concelebrated by Their Graces Isihije of Valjevo, Jerotej of Toplica, elected Bishops Justin of Hvosno, Sava of Marca, monks, clergy and deacons from many dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

After reading the Gospel passage, the Serbian Patriarch emphasized in his sermon the importance of emulating the angelic forces in everyday Christian life:

After the last prayer, the slava gifts were blessed, and His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije,  congratulated slava to the monastery brotherhood.

The chanters of the School of Church Chanting at the Church Community of Novi Sad, St. John of Damascus, contributed to the festive gathering.
