Patron Saint's Day of Kosovska Mitrovica solemnly celebrated
In Kosovska Mitrovica yesterday the feast day of St. Great Martyr Demetrius was solemnly celebrated. Marking the Day of St. Demetrius, the city's Patron Saint's Day of Kosovska Mitrovica, began with the feast day's Liturgy and the procession which went through the north part of the city. The Holy Liturgy in the church of St. Great Martyr Demetrius was served by His Grace Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren with the concelebration of vicar Bishop Jovan of Lipljan and the priesthood of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral and the Diocese of Raska-Prizren.
The Liturgy was attended by many hundreds of believers from Kosovo and Metohija, Republic of Srpska and Montenegro.
At the Holy Liturgy Bishop Jovan held a sermon.
After the Holy Liturgy, the faithful people along with Bishops and priests went in the procession through the streets of Kosovska Mitrovica until the bridge on the Ibar and from there the procession went to the monument of the Russian consul Gregory Stepanovic Scerbin, where the memorial service to the suffered in Kosovo and Metohija was held.
Blessing of the slava cake was done on the Sumadija square. Protopresbyter-staurophor addressed the gathered who also conveyed the blessing from Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral and solidarity of the faithful people from Montenegro.
The celebration of the city slava in the organization of the Serbian municipality of Kosovska Mitrovica began last night with a solemn academy. In the program the church choir Nusic participated with the recitators and Bishop Teodosije attended it.
