The Parish of St. Gabriel the Archangel in Richmond Hill is the youngest parish of the Canadian Diocese. It was founded last year with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Grigorije of Canada and with efforts and dedication of its parish priest protopresbyter-staurophor Vasilije Tomic as well as good and honorable parishioners who helped them in this wholeheartedly.

This year the parish celebrated its first Patron Saint's Day of the church in a newly/built chapel dedicated to its patron - Saint Gabriel the Archangel. It was an occasion for a visit of Bishop Grigorije who served a vesper service on the Eve of this holiday, so as to next feast day, on July 26 2011, he served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy with the concelebration of protopresbyter-staurophor Milutin Veljko, protopresbyter-staurophor Vase Pejovic, presbyter Milos Puric and hieromonk Vasilije, heugomen of the monastery Transfiguration of the Lord in Milton.

In the holiday's sermon Bishop Grigorije talked inspiringly about Saint Gabriel the Archangel and other angel's acts as well as their significance in the life of the Church.

After the prayer he blessed the slava cake and the wheat.
