Patron’s Saint-day of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Foca

The Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University in East Sarajevo celebrated the feast day of Saint Basil of Ostrog, the patron saint of this high educational institution of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The celebration of Saint Basil began with the Holy Liturgy celebrated by Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosna with the concelebration of the principal of the Stanjevic monastery Archimandrite Jefrem, protopresbyter-stavrophor Dr. Dragomir Sando (envoy of the dean of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University in Belgrade), Professor Dr. Vladislav Topalovic (dean of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University in East Sarajevo), Milutin Andric (spiritual father of the Faculty) and of other priests in Foca’s church of Saint Sava.

The Serbian Chanting Society Sloga from Sarajevo and SCS Pobratimstvo from Foca sang responses. The clergy and the faithful took part in the rite of blessing of offerings in honor of the saint patron.

Following the Eucharistic gathering, the celebration was continued in the heatre hall in Foca, where a solemn academy was held. Besides the head of the Municipality of Foca Mr. Radisoav Masic and other representatives of the political, economic and cultural life of the Municipality of Foca and Republic of Srpska, among the invitees also there were distinguished mufti of Gorazde Remzi effendi Pitic and Professor Dr. Mario Bernardic, representative of the Catholic Faculty of Theology of the University of Sarajevo, as well as deans of other faculties of the University in East Sarajevo.

The audience was greeted by the dean of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology protopresbyter-staurophor Professor Dr. Vladislav Topalovic, Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar Bosnia, protopresbyter-staurophor Dr. Dragomir Sando and vice-dean of the University of East Sarajevo Professor Dr. Dejan Bokonjic.

After the speeches, there was performance of the SSS Sloga and also the “Golden Plaque”award of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology was given to Metropolitan Hrizostom, Faculty of Philosophy of the University of East Sarajevo, Faculty of Economy of the University of East Sarajevo,  vice dean of the University of East Sarajevo Professor Dr. Dejan Bokonjic and Professor Dr. Darko Djogo.
