Policemen in Montenegro quit the force rather than use violence against Orthodox faithful and citizens

Two weeks ago, Miroslav Koprivica quit his construction job rather than participate in the destruction of the monastic residence at the St. Basil of Ostrog Monastery in Ulcinj, Montenegro.

Now the backhoe driver has been joined in taking a stand by Montenegrin policemen who quit the force rather than use violence against the Orthodox faithful who are protesting the persecution against the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro.

On Saturday, June 21, Vuk Vulovic, a cop of 17 years, quit the Budva police force, took up a cross and led the Orthodox faithful in procession, reports the Orthodoxia News Agency.

“I have been a cop for 17 years. I decided to take off my uniform because I realized I was actually guarding a bulldozer that would be used to destroy monasteries and churches of the holy Serbian Orthodox Church, which I was not willing to do,” Vulovic said.

“I don’t want to be part of that. I don’t want to be involved in that. I don’t want to beat my people. I want to protect my Church and my people,” he emphasized.

He took off his uniform in the police department and headed for the procession. “I want to thank all of my fellow policemen,” he said. “I have done my job honestly and I know that many of my colleagues do not agree with such an injustice.”

Carrying a processional cross, he proudly declared: “It is a great honor for me to raise the cross. The precious Cross is a sacrifice, and I accept it. I am ready to raise it in the name of Truth, in the name of our holy places. I am proud of my ancestors. I know that now they are happy that I made this decision.”

The site of the Montenegro Metropolis of the Serbian Church also reports that on June 19, Boris Yankovic quite his job with the Bar police department because of his reluctance to participate in police actions against citizens who were defending Mayor Marko Tsarevic who is a vocal opponent of the scandalous law “On Religious Freedom” that gives the Montenegrin state the power to seize property from the Serbian Church.
