Polyarchieratic Divine Liturgy on the name day of the Archbishop of Crete
On Friday, August 23, 2019, feast day of Hieromartyr Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyons, and the Apodosis of the Dormition, Archbishop Irenaeus of Crete presided over the Divine Liturgy in the Agios Minas Cathedral in Heraklion.
Metropolitans Andreas of Arkalochori, Kastelli and Viannos, Gerasimos of Petra and Hersonissos, Kyrillos of Hierapytna and Siteia, and Bishop Paisios of Apameia participated in the Divine Liturgy while Metropolitans Amfilochios of Kissamos and Selino and Damaskinos of Kydonia and Apokoronas were prayerfully attending in the altar.
On behalf of the Archpriests of the Church of Crete, Metropolitan Gerasimos of Petra and Hersonissos wished the Archbishop of Crete health and strength for his pastoral work. The Metropolitan wished that the ministry of the Archbishop should always be a spiritual lighthouse and guide.
The Protosyncellus, Archim. Methodios Vernidakis conveyed the wishes on behalf of the Holy Clergy of the Church of Crete. Archbishop Irenaeus wholeheartedly thanked all of them for participating in the feast of Hieromartyr Irenaeus and the Polyarchieratic Divine Liturgy.
A reception was hosted at the Archdiocese’s headquarters.
