Prayerful remembrance of defenders of Belgrade
Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, vicar of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch on Sunday with the concelebration of the priesthood of the church of Alexander Nevsky served the requiem for the defenders of Belgrade. That day on Dorcol, on the corner of Tsar Uros str. and Mile Alasa str., on the place where in 1915 Major Dragutin Gavrilovic commanded the defence of Belgrade, several hundred citizens gathered to prayerfully remember of these Serbian heroes who gave their lives for the defence of the Fatherland and Belgrade.
Besides great-granson of Major Gavrilovic: Milosa and Mina Marinkovic, this gathering was also attended by: representative of the General Staff of the Army of Serbia Colones Stevica Karapandzic, cadets of the Military High School with their catechist presbyter Jovan Babic, president of the Association " Military volunteers from 1912 until 1918" Dr Vidoje Golubovic, actor of the National Theatre Tihomir Arsic, pupils of the Seminary of Saint Sava, folklore ensamble "Frula", singing group HS: "Saint Triphoun" from Aleksandrovac and pupls of PS "The Baruh Brothers".
The Bishop held a sermon after which there was a cultural and art programme.
The Svetosavsko Zvonce renewed the facade and the memorial plaque.
