Prayerful remembrance of the suffered in Storm
With the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, His Grace Vicar Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno served today a memoral service for the suffered 16 years ago in the croatian military operation Storm. The memorial service in Belgrade's church of St. Mark was prayerfully attended by President of Serbia Mr. Boris Tadic, representatives of the Serbian Government, members of families of the suffered as well as more than hundred displaced from their centuries-old homes.
Bishop Atanasije said that Serbia today mourns with the displaced, and everyone remembers the refugee columns and suffering.
Serbian President Boris Tadic said yesterday on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the operation "Storm" that the citizens of Serbia on August 4 mourn and pay tribute to all innocent victims of crimes that must not be forgotten. Tadic pointed out that it was just that the war criminals responsible for crimes in operation ''Storm'' were in The Hague Tribunal. He stressed the need to discover the fate of missing persons and said that after 16 years we and Croatia had to deal with problems that most families facing in the process of return .
Also in the St. Trinity churhc in Banja Luka a memorial service was served for the suffered Serbs in the operation "Storm" in August 1995, after which wreaths were laid at the Banja Luka cemetary " Sveti Pantelija". The wreath to the suffered Serbian fighters was laid by President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik, who condemned the crimes done during and after the "Storm" and said that Croatia did everything to prevent Serbian national being from renewing on the territory of that state and that there was still an obstruction of the return of the displaced Serbs in that country.
