President Of The National Assembly Of Bulgaria On A Visit To The Romanian Patriarchate
On 9 June 2015, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel received at the patriarchal residence of Bucharest a delegation of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, headed by president Tsetska Tsacheva, who was paying an official visit to Romania. Aleksandar Filipov, extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria in Bucharest was also present.Tsatska Tsacheva thanked the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church for reception and conveyed the fraternal salute of His Beatitude Neofit, Patriarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. Then, the president of the National Assembly of Bulgaria underlined the very good political, diplomatic, economical and religious relations between the two neighbour states, members of the European Union and of the North Atlantic Alliance.
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel saluted the presence in Romania of the delegation of the Bulgarian Parliament and appreciated the good relations of cooperation between the two neighbour peoples. In this sense, the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church mentioned the traditional fraternal relations between the two sister Orthodox Churches, Romanian and Bulgarian, relations that should be intensified through the development of some church common projects and programmes.
During the meeting, the representatives of the Bulgarian state authorities expressed their gratitude for observing the rights and freedom of the Bulgarian ethic group of Romania and asked for supporting this community in their efforts to solve the issue of the liturgical space for the Bulgarian Orthodox faithful of Bucharest.
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel underlined the fact that during the last few years the Romanian Patriarchate intervened to the local authorities of Bucharest in order to identify a plot of land where the Bulgarian Orthodox community of Bucharest could build their own place of worship, to which equipment the Archdiocese of Bucharest will also contribute.
