Proclamation of the Bishop-elect Dimitrije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and the Littoral
After the election of Archimandrite Dimitrije in May 2018, for a new Bishop of Zahumlje, Herzegovina and the Littoral, the Church of God celebrated the rite of his proclamation on the Eve if the Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost.
His Holiness Irinej, Archbishop of Pec, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovac and Serbian Patriarch, officiated the solemn rite of the proclamation before the vesper service, while many bishops, presbyters, deacons concelebrated in the presence of the faithful people.
During the rite, decision of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church regarding his election was officially read, after which the Bishop elect accepted it with humble readiness.
The Elected Bishop Dimitrije, with baptismal name Savo, was born on 12 November 1976 in Cetinje, Montenegro. He spent his childhood in Sveti Stefan settlement, municipality of Budva, where his family lives. He finished primary and high schools in Budva, and later on performed his military service in Sombor and Uzice, Serbia, in 1995/1996. To the Tvrdos monastery he came in 1992, and in 2003 he was tonsured with the name Dimitrije after the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius.
He was ordained a hierodeacon in 2004 in the church of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist and the Forerunner in Orovac, Trebinje. He was ordained a hieromonk in the church of Holy Transfiguration in Trebinje on the Epiphany in 2005.
He graduated from the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of Saint Basil of Ostrog in Foca, in 2012. As a hieromonk of Tvrdosh he was appointed to be an abbot the monastery of Duzi in 2015.
The Holy Assembly of Bishops elected hieromonk Dimitrije (Radjenovic), abbot of the Duzi monastery, as Bishop of the Diocese of Zahumlje, Herzegovina and the Littoral at the session of 9th May 2018. At the suggestion of Bishop Grigorije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina, and with the decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops, he was awarded with the rank of an Archimandrite, on 21 May 2018.
