Public pryaer services for the suffering Serbian people of Kosovo and Metohija are held, as well as in all churches of the Serbian jurisdiction throughout the world, also in the St. Sava Memorial Cathedral in Belgrade. Upon the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, they are served by Vicar Bishop Atanasije (Rakita) of Hvosno with the concelebration of many priests and deacons and chanting of the chanters from the St. Sava's church. 

During the first public prayer service, on Thursday, September 16 protopresbyter-staurophor Vitaly Tarasyev, the head of the Representation of the Moscow Patriarchate in Belgrade, also concelebrated, and the Russian Ambassador in Belgrade, H.E. Aleksander Konuzin was present.

At the end of the public prayer meeting Bishop Atanasije held a sermon regarding the newest sufferings of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.

In the sermon at the public prayer meeting on September 16, Bishop Atanasije spoke about necessity that in these difficult days we concentrate in the prayer, and not to allow us to create hatred and bitterness in ourselves.
