Relics of St. Petka welcomed in Halmstadt and anniversary of the foundation of the Diocese celebrated
On the Holy Liturgy on October 30, 2011 a lot of the faithful came, and with their prayer welcomed the relics of St. Petka which were solemnly received in the church. The relics are brought thanks to father Nektarije, the head of the monastery Olofström in Blekinge, about one hundred kilometres away from Halmstad. Thanks to the commitment of presbyter Milan Vukasin to the monastery of St. George, protosyngellos Nektarije (Samardzic) gave as a gift the relics of St. Petka. Not only Serbs came to worship the relics, there were also believers from the Romanian and Russian Orthodox Church as well as Orthodox Swedes.
The Holy Hierarchal Liturgy was served by His Grace Bishop Dositej of Britain and Scandinavia with the concelebration of priests from Sweden and Danmark.
After the Liturgy believers and priesthood went to the hall of the Swedish Church where they joined the table of love which was prepared by this year's hosts of the slava, the Basta family of Halmstadt.
After the blessing the table, the gathered people was addressed by Bishop Dositej and presbyter Milan Vukasin.
Our parish is very grateful to father Nektarije for this great sanctity and the gift. We wish him a God's blessing and that St. Petka would be his protector on his life's path.
