Relics of St. Stefan Lazarevic brought to Belgrade for veneration
With blessing of the Serbian Patriarch Irinej and thanks to the benevolence of His Grace Bishop Ignatius of Branichevo, relics of St. Stefan Lazarevic have been brought from monastery Manasija to the church of Ascension of the Lord in Belgrade.
His Grace Bishop Arsenius, Vicar Bishop of His Holiness, prayerfully welcomed the coffin with the relics in the church-yard accompanied by clergy of the Arhdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovci. The acathist in honour of the saintly Despotes Stefan was read in the church in attendance of a huge number of faithful, among whom there were representatives of the Army of Serbia, monastics and many personalities from public and cultural life of the capital city, Belgrade, which St. Stefan Lazarevic established as his capital in the 15th Century.
The Rt. Revd. Bishop Arsenius delivered a sermon.
On the next day, on the Friday of the 11th of March, 2017, His Holiness the Patriarch celebrated the Liturgy of the Pre-sanctified Gifts in the Church of Ascension of the Lord.
