Representatives of Coalition of association of refugees visit Patriarch Irinej

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch received yesterday on July 4, 2011 in the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade a delegation of 104 associations of refugees and  displaced Serbs from Croatia led by Mr. Miodrag Linta. The members of the  delegation informed His Holiness with many problems that Serbian refugees and displaces have and gave Him a report on how the Government of Croatia failed to comply with the obligations from the Chapter 23 "Justice and Human Rights".

In the report of  refugee associations there is listed a number of facts which clearly show that Croatia did not return seized property and acquired rights of Serbian refugees and the displaced , it has not established an independent, impartial and efficient judiciary in the area of trials for war crimes and other crimes during the war and did not completed the process of exhumations and identifications of remains of Serbs from over 600 known graves. The members of the delegation also introduced His Holiness on 70,000 injured people who signed petition supporting refugees and displaced Serbs, which demand that Croatia meets the European standards in respect of our human rights, as well as with the initiative that National Assembly of Serbia adopts a Resolution on respect of human rights of Serbian refugees and displaced Serbs from Croatia.

His Holiness was interested for current position of the refugees and displaced Serbs and problems that they have in the process of return of their rights in  places of refuge, as well in everyday life. His Holiness blessed the Petition, and supported the continuation of the action of collecting signatures of support of the Petition all over the world where live refugees and displaces Serbs as well as other citizens, as well as the support for passing the Resolution on respect of human rigts of Serbs from Croatia.
