Requiem service for the victims of mass famine of the 1930s is celebrated in Moscow

On 23 November 2013, a requiem service for5 the victim of mass famine in the Soviet Union was celebrated at the Church of St. Nicholas in Three Hills at the request of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Russian Federation and the Ukrainian diaspora in Moscow.

Praying at the requiem service were H.T. Vladimir Yelchenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Russian Federation; embassy employees; representatives of Ukrainian communities who live in Moscow, and parishioners.

Celebrating was archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, rector of the church and chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for Church-Society relations, who addressed the worshippers, saying in particular that it is very important to do anything possible so that the tragedies of the 20th century will never occur again.
