Romanian Târgoviștei Archdiocese spent $520,000 helping 148,000 via philanthropic projects in 2019
Under the chairmanship of His Eminence Metropolitan Nifon, the Diocesan Assembly of the Archdiocese of Târgoviștei met on Thursday, January 23, 2020 in its annual working session at the Eparchial residence, reports the diocesan website.
The Assembly heard reports on the pastoral-missionary work of the Archdiocese and working committees examined the reports of the various Archdiocesan departments.
Regarding the Archdiocese’s social-philanthropic activity, it was reported that $519,110 (2,252,000 lei) were spent by the Eparchial Center and parishes in 2019, benefiting 148,000 people.
In particular, 4,332 people received financial support, in the amount of $52,787; 30 social centers were supported with goods and food, amounting $12,900 lei; 6 children received financial support in the amount of $33,885 for necessary surgeries; and 38,000 portions of food (130 daily) were offered at the social canteen of the Târgoviștei Archdiocese, worth $50,712.
Additionally, numerous social-philanthropic and educational institutions were financially supported, libraries were set up in hospitals, and eight children were cared for at the Archdiocesan Social Center.
It was also reported that there are 323 parishes, 11 chapels, 11 monasteries, and 3 hermitages served by 465 clerics in the diocese.
