On Friday, 27 January 2017, Patron’s Saint day (slava) of the church of Saint Sava was marked in Wellington.

The celebration was enhanced by a guest from Sidney, Fr Nemanja Mrdjenovic, who officiated the Holy Liturgy with the concelebration of Fr Predrag, parish priest in Wellington.

The central celebration of the church patron saint was held on the  Sunday of the 29th January. Quite a number of the faithful attendrd the Holy Liturgy which was served by Fr Predrag with the concelebration of father Nicholai Floroiou and deacon Dan Hayworth from the Romanian Orthodox Church. After the procession the slava bread was blessed and cut.

Thereupon, a rite for the beginning of a new school year in New Zealand was performed. A Saint Sava Academy commenced with anthem to Saint Sava and a program which was prepared by school children. The Academy was concluded by the choir Vox Serbicus that performed a set of songs.
