Saint Sava Day in Lackawanna

On Sunday, January 25, the Saint Stephen Church in Lackawanna, NY combined two slava celebrations. They celebrated the Patron of their temple, Saint Stephen the First Martyr, as well as the patron of the church school, Saint Sava. The Divine Liturgy was concelebrated by Fr. Stephen Gousios and Fr. Rastko Trbuhovich.

The Saint Stephen slava cake was blessed at the end of the Divine Liturgy. The “hosts” of the slava this year were Milan and Mira Ristic. The Saint Sava cake blessing took place in the hall.

Following the dinner prepared by the St. Petka Kolo, the program was opened by the St. Stephen Tamburitzans. Many recitations and a musical performance followed. The finale was the performances by the St. Stephen Junior Dancers, and the Senior Dancers, Shelley Vranjes and Stacey Delmont instructors. All the Church School students were joined in a group photo by the clergy, the president of the Parish Council, Sofia Wuslich, the domacini Superintendent Diane Sullivan and the teachers. We thank the teachers and instructors who contributed to the success of this annual event.
