Saint Sava Day in Phoenix
On Sunday, January 25, His Grace Bishop Dr Maxim visited the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Phoenix, Arizona, for their Patron Saint Day Celebration.
On this beautiful, sunny Arizona day Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Grace along with V. Rev. Lazar Vasiljevic, V. Rev. Stanislav Djuric, Rev. Deacon Zoran Aleksic and host priest V. Rev. Dragomir Tuba, with a great number of faithful people present. His Grace tonsured Michael Devic and Jovan Tuba to the rank of a Reader.
More than sixty St Sava Church School children performed in the annual traditional St. Sava Day Program in front of a filled social hall after the banquet. They sung and recited poems to St. Sava showcasing the product of their hard labor and the labor of their Church School teachers. Also performing were St. Sava’s Ethno Group “Breze” and “Gavrilo Princip” Folklore Group. Honored 2015 Parish Slava Kumovi were Paul and Tamara Djurisic along with their sons Nikola and Luka.
