Saint Sava's Day and the Jubilee of the 800th anniversary of the autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church were celebrated solemnly in Athens.

Upon a request of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Athens, and with the blessing of His Beatitude Archbishop Hyeronim of Athens and All Greece and His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, the Vesper service was held in the church of Saint Spyridon of Trimuntuna the Wonderworker, in Pankraty district, on 25 January 2019, and on the next morning the morning service and the Holy Liturgy in Serbian.

The worships were held by hieromonk Dr. Amvrosije (Vesic), spiritual of the church of Saint Spyridon in Pankraty, with concelebration of Archimandrite Evsevije (Meandzija) and protosynchelos Vasilije (Gavrilovic).

The service was solemnized by chanting of the abbess of the monastery of Saint Nicholas in Grabovac mother Irina (Djordjic), Dr. Gordana Blagojevic from the Ethnographic Institute of SASA, Serbian clerics in Athens and students of the Faculty of Theology of the National Capodistrian University in Athens.

The Liturgy was attended by Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina Professor Dr. Branko Dokic, Minister Adviser of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Milan Vukosavljevic, envoy of the Ministry of Defense Lieutenant Colonel Dragan Petkovic with families and a number of faithful.

It was on the same evening that a special cultural event was organized in the Cultural Centre of the Archdiocese of Athens with  participation of  pupils of the Serbian Sunday School, Greek students studying Serbian at the University of Athens  and some Serbian artists living in that city.
