Saint Sava’s Day in Zagreb
On the feast of Saint Sava, on Sunday, 27 January 2013, Metropolitan Jovan of Zagreb-Ljubljana celebrated the Holy Hiearchal Liturgy in the chapel of Saint Sava at the Serbian Orthodox High School “ Kantakuzina Katarina Branković”.
The feast day of Saint Sava is celebrated as School Day and the slava of the pupils of the High school, who attended the Holy Liturgy along with their professors and the faithful. Among the people present at the Liturgy there were Mr. Stanimir Vukičević, Ambassador of Serbia, Mrs. Bosa Prodanović, First Adviser at the Serbian embassy in Zagreb and Mr. Nedeljko Tenjović, Secretary General of the President of Serbia, Mr. Tomislav Nikolić.
At the Main Hall of the High school the Saint Sava Academy was arranged. The pupils began the programme with the hymn to Saint Sava, and they prepared several plays, some in Serbian and some in English from Nušić, Kovačević and Shakespeare. The main theme of the performance this year was humor.
At Saint Sava Academy in attendance alongside Metropolitan Jovan were also thehe clergy of the Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Zagreb, Mr. Nedeljko Tanjović, Secretary General of the President of the Republic of Serbia; Mr. Stanimir Vukičević, Ambassador of Serbia in Zagreb and the embassy staff; Mrs. Azra Kalajdžisalihović, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Mr. Boris Milošević, Assistant Minister of Administration; Mr. Aleksandar Tolnauer, President of the Council for National Minorities of the Government of Croatia; Mr. Saša Milošević, President of the Serbian National Council of the City of Zagreb; and other guests.
At this occasion the pupils were granted by Metropolitan Jovan monetary awards for outstanding effort.
