Saint Simeon’s Assembly in Podgorica
The Saint Simeon’s Assembly began with the consecration of the baptistery in the pyrgos of Saint Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher and the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral church of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica on Saturday, March 1st. The assembly was held under the sign of the great jubilee – 9oo years since the birth of Saint Simeon the Myrhh-Gusher – Stefan Nemanja.
His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej officiated the Divine Liturgy with the concelebration of His Eminence Amfilohije, Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, Their Graces Bishops: Jovan of Sumadija, Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic, Grigorije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina, Teodosije of Raska-Prizren and Joakim of Polog-Kumanovo, priests, deacons and hieromonks.
Members of the church choirs “Saint Mark the Apostle and Evangelist” from Podgorica and “Saint New Martyr Stanko” from Niksic sang responses.
Following the Liturgy, His Holiness led the Saint Simeon’s procession through the streets of Podgorica from the Cathedral church until the Nemanja’s citadel at the confluence of the Moraca and Ribnica Rivers.
