Your Eminence Metropolitan Ambrose,

I have long hesitated to respond to your interview published on The Orthodox World website on April 12: https://theorthodoxworld.com/exclusive-how-the-moscow-patriarchate-tramples-on-church-canons-and-undermines-orthodox-unity-in-korea/. However, the impression from my recent trip to Ukraine, to attend with a blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia the celebrations on the occasion of the Name Day of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, led me to the decision to respond to your public statements.

International Conference on the Theological Legacy of Archpriest George Florovsky

The Ecumenical Patriarchate is organizing an International Conference in Istanbul, titled “The theological legacy of Archpriest George Florovsky,” Sept. 1-3, 2019, on the 40-year anniversary of his passing.  His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will inaugurate the International Conference which will be attended by hierarchs, clergy, distinguished university professors and theologians from universities from around the world. 

Venerable Mother Angelina of Serbia

She was a daughter of the Orthodox Albanian prince Gjergj Arianit Komneni, sister-in-law of George Kastrioti Skanderbeg and a wife of Serbian despot Stefan Brankovic, son of George.

With her husband she shared the full bitterness of his life, not only in Serbia but also, in exile in Albania and Italy. Their sons Maksim and Jovan she educated in a Christian spirit. When her husband died, she became a nun and devoted herself to prayers and works of mercy, repairing and building churches and monasteries. The people calls her  "Mother Angelina". Her wonderworking relics rest along with the relics of her righteous husband Stefan and devoted sons Maksim and Jovan in the monastery of Krusedol. Saint mother Angelina died in the beginning of XVI century.

Greatmartyr and Healer Panteleimon

The Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon was born in the city of Nicomedia into the family of the illustrious pagan Eustorgius, and he was named Pantoleon.

His mother Saint Euboula (March 30) was a Christian. She wanted to raise her son in the Christian Faith, but she died when the future martyr was just a young child. His father sent Pantoleon to a pagan school, after which the young man studied medicine at Nicomedia under the renowned physician Euphrosynus. Pantoleon came to the attention of the emperor Maximian (284-305), who wished to appoint him as royal physician when he finished his schooling.

Sunday Octoechos in Chinese language published in Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, China Orthodox Press Publishing Company issued the Sunday Octoechos in the Chinese language.

The publication of a major liturgical book was aimed at making liturgical texts available for the Chinese-speaking faithful. It can be used both for public worship and private prayer. The edition includes eight volumes of the Octoechos, 36 pages in each volume, with parallel English and Chinese texts, liturgical commentaries and a short appendix of Chinese vocal chanting.

Professor Dr. Predrag Ristic reposed in the Lord

Renowned Serbian architect and professor at the Academy of the Serbian Orthodox Church for Fine Arts and Conservation Predrag Pedja Ristic died at the age of 89.

Predrag Ristic was born in Belgrade on January 17, 1931. He completed elementary German-Serbian school in 1941, and King Alexander I High School in 1949. He graduated in 1956 from the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade with a grade of 10 with a project of the Cathedral Church and his own theory of acoustics based on the mathematical theory of assemblies. He received his PhD with the highest possible grade from the University of Graz, Austria, in 1980 with the thesis "Reconstructions of the Prehistoric Architecture of Lepenski vir". He passed the state exam in 1979. He was a member of ULUPUDS (Association of Artists of Fine Arts), and a lecturer at numerous academies in Europe. He was professor at the Serbian Orthodox Church's Academy for Fine Arts and Conservation since its inception.
