Serbian Bishop Andrej visited Malta
In the period from October 23 to 26, 2020, His Grace Bishop Andrej of Austria-Switzerland performed an archpastoral visit to the missionary parish in Malta.
After a reception of Bishop Andrej in front of the Tal-Pilar Church in Valletta, an evening service was held, presided over by the priest Aleksandar Popescu from the Romanian Orthodox Church, together with the Maltese parish priest Risto Gorancic; a Russian church choir and a Romanian chanter sang responses. The worship was attended by the priest George Mifsud from the Greek Catholic Church as well.
On that Saturday evening, a session of the Church Municipality of Malta was held, chaired by His Grace the Bishop.
On the Sunday morning, the Holy Liturgy was celebrated in presence of Bishop Andrej and a multitude of the faithful. After the service, the Bishop with the competent parish priest and the Church Board met with the Archbishop of Malta Charles Shiklun at the Archbishop's residence in Mdina, where a longer-term solution of the issue relating to the spiritual needs of the Serbian parish in Malta was discussed.
In the evening, at the working dinner, Bishop Andrej, the parish priest and the Church Board summarized the previous meetings with the Archbishop.
At the end of the dinner, the Bishop once again thanked the parish priest and the Board for everything they had been doing for the faithful people in Malta. The parish priest of Malta thanked Bishop Andrej for the paternal love and support to the parish in Malta.
