His Grace Bishop David of Krusevac served on Monday, October 10 the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Belgrade, with a concelebration of professors of the Faculty. At the end of the Liturgy the Bishop blessed a new beginning of the new academic year and wished students lots of success in further studying.

Spirituals: Metropolitan of Mesogea and Lavreotiki Nikolaos

Studio B - Saturday, October 15 at 20:00 hours .   Among the most interesting personalities of the modern Orthodoxy, but also the world of spirituality in general, it is surely Metropolitan of Mesogea and Lavriotiki Mr. Nikolaos Hajinikolau. In Athens he graduated in physics, at the Harvard he mastered astrophysics, and at the Institute for technology in Boston he mastered in mechanical engineering, he  got Ph.D. i n biomedical technology at the Harvard medical faculty, he became the master in theology at the Greek Faculty of Theology in Boston, and he got Ph.D. in theology at the Theological Faculty in Thessaloniki. In the States he worked for the NASA, as a consultant for space medicine technology, and at the same time he worked in several hospitals where are new methods for the treatment of coronary diseases are tested. Then he leaves all that and goes to Mount Athos, where after two year's of being a novice, became a monk at the monastery of Simonopetri. He was elected in 2004 for Metropolitan of Mesogea and Lavriotiki. 

Serbian parish in South Bends celebrates 100th anniversary

The Saints Peter and Paul Church parish in South Bend held their gala 100th Anniversary celebration this past weekend. His Grace Bishop Longin gave blessings for the occasion and presided over the festivities along with several clergy members in attendance: parish priest Rev. Sasha Nedic, Rev. Lazar Kostur, Rev. Marko Matic, Rev. Aleksandar Novakovic, and Rev. Dobrivoje Milunovic. Milan Medich, church president, directed the combined choirs from Sts. Peter & Paul South Bend, St. Elijah Merrillville, and St. Sava Merrillville, who sang opening prayers and gave a fantastic choral performance accompanied by MISMO Tamburitza Orchestra.

Upcoming Monastery Slava in New Gracanica

On Friday, October 14th, New Gracanica Monastery will be celebrating its Slava. On Thursday, Vespers will be served at 5:00 pm, as usual. On Friday morning, Divine Liturgy will begin at 10:00 am, with His Grace Bishop Longin officiating. After Divine Liturgy there will be lunch and reception at the big hall.

On Saturday, October 15th, the well-known Konevets Quartet from Russia will be at New Gracanica. They will participate at the Vespers service, starting at 5:00 pm, and will also have a program of folk music after the service. There is no cost for the concert, but donations are accepted and CDs will be available for purchase.

The Myhrr Streaming Iveron Icon of the Mother of God came to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania on the evening of October 6, 2011. An Akathist to the Mother of God was served. Participating clergy included Protopresbyter Stavrofor Rade Merick, Protopresbyter Lt.Col. Adam Yonitch and Rev. Father Matthew Stagon. Dean of the Pittsburgh Deanery, Protopresbyter Stavrofor Stevan Stepanov was in attendance as was Mitred Archpriest Stephan Romanchak. Choir Director Sonia Janson organized the readers for the responses.
