Epiphany swimming for the Precious Cross in Kragujevac

His Grace Bishop Jovan of Sumadija blessed 33 participants of the competion in swimming whose names were previously selected by the draw since this year 101 candidate applied. 

On the feast day of the Epiphany, 19 January 2021, on the lake of Sumarice for the 18th time an event Swimming for the Holy Cross was held. Organizers of this event are the Sport Society Svebor, local self-government of the City of Kragujevac and the City Tourist Organization. The organizers were supported by the priests of the church of St. Petka in Vinogradi, where the competitors attended the Holy Liturgy and the Great Blessing of waters.

On the feast of the Theophany, 19 January 2021, His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlye-Niksic, the administrator of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral, celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the monastery of Djurdjevi Stupovi.

On the day when our Holy Church celebrates prayerfully the feast of Theophany, 19 January 2021, in the Cathedral Church in Novi Sad the Lord's feast day was solemnly celebrated in the Cathedral church in Novi Sad. Great Vespers and Matin in the Cathedral church were celebrated by protopresbyter-staurophor Djordje Djurdjev and protonamesnik Goran Dimic.  During the Holy Liturgy His Grace Bishop Irinej of Backa, PhD, served with the concelebration of His Grace Bishop Isihije of Mohacs, clergy of the Cathedral church and deacons of Novi Sad.

Metropolitan Porfirije: There will be challenges, but we will never lose faith that God is with us

From the first day, the Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb- Ljubljana was with the people who suffered terrible losses after a series of devastating earthquakes in Sisak, Glina and Petrinja, as well as the surrounding villages in Croatia.

In these difficult days, once again, as he says, it has been shown that tragedies unite people, and that the Serbian Orthodox Church does not look at who is of which nationality and religion, but offers solidarity and love to everyone. In an interview with the daily newspaper Kurir, Metropolitan Porfirije says that he will not forget the faces of people, especially of  children, full of fear and anxiety, after they had lost everything they had in just a few minutes. He points out that he was moved by the speed with which the institutions from Serbia reacted to help the endangered.

Bishop of Pozega and Bishop of Slavonia visited the Diocese of Gornji Karlovac

On 15 January 2021, Bishop of Pozega Msgr.  Antun Skvorcevic, PhD, and His Grace Bishop Jovan of Slavonia accompanied by the host, His Eminence Bishop Gerasim of Gornji Karlovac, visited the territory of the Diocese of Gornji Karlovac affected by a series of devastating earthquakes in December 2020.

The Bishops and the Bishop Skvorcevic visited the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God in Glina, after which they visited the Vekic and Nogic families in the village of Ravno Rascee, as well as the Church of the Resurrection of the Lord in the village of Majske Poljane, which was completely destroyed after the earthquake.

On the eve of New Year, according to the Julian Calendar, January 13, 2021, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America formally received at the Episcopal Residence and Diocesan Center in New Rochelle, New York, His Excellency Marko Djuric, newly arrived Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the United States of America.
