Serbian Patriarch Irinej attends the jubilee of the Istocnik, Diocese of Canada
His Grace Bishop Irinej of Serbia served on Easter Friday the Holy Hiearchal Liturgy in the monastery of Holy Transfiguration, the seat of the Diocese of Canada, with the concelebration of the host, Bishop Grigorije of Canada, the Bishop Dositej of Britain-Scandinavia, the whole priesthood and monkhood of the Deanery of East Canada of the Diocese of Canada.
The whole-day celebration of the slava of "Istocnik", the newspaper and publishing house of the Diocese of Canada which marks 25 years of the existence began in a solemn way in the fullfilled church before four hundred believers.
Following the Holy Liturgy there was a solem table of love in the monastery guesting house.
The celebration of 25th anniversary of "Istocnik" was marked with a spiritual academy at the building of the Library and the museum of the Diocese within the monastery guesting house. Protopresbyter-staurophor Ljubomir Rajic, editor-in-chief of the magazine and Dr Davor Milicevic. A new release was promoted which "Istocnik" published in the cooperation with "the Serbian Literary Cooperative" - Selected poems of St. Gregory the Theologian.
On the occasion of the slava of "Istocnik" writers Radovan Gajic, Milomir Glavcic and actors Dimitrije and Ana Porobic received episcopal gramatas and acknowledgments, while Serbian Patriarch Irinej awarded benefactress Dragana Vujasinovic-Hartog from Toronto with the Order of St. Sava.
The Canonical visit of Patriarch Irinej is continued on Saturday with the Hiearchal Liturgy in the church of St. Nicholas in Hamilton.
