Serbian Patriarch Irinej ceremoniously received in Budapest
His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej arrived to the church of Saint Great-martyr George in Budapest, in the evening on Friday, May 24, 2019, where he was welcomed by Bishop Lukian of Buda with clergy and a great number of people, who gathered to greet their Archhierarch.
His Grace Bishop Dr. Irinej of Bachka and his Vicar Bishop Isihije of Mohacs were distinguished members of the high delegation visiting the Diocese of Buda.
His Grace Bishop Lukian greeted the high delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church headed by the Patriarch and welcomed them to the Diocese of Buda.
His Holiness Patriarch Irinej warmly thanked for the warm reception and told the congregation that he had come to visit the old Serbian Church areas outside the country of origin and to offer prayers to the Lord together with the God-loving people.
The visit of His Holiness to the Patriarch of Serbian Irinej is of a great importance not only to Orthodox believers in Hungary, but congtributes to the relations between Serbia and Hungary as well. Hungarian public with great interest follows up the visit of His Holiness, who during his three-day stay in Hungary will consecrate the newly organized Church Museum of the Diocese of Buda on Saturday, May 25, and then on Sunday, May 26, celebrate the Holy Liturgy at the Szentendre Cathedral Church starting at 09:30 o’clock.
