Serbian Patriarch Irinej consecrates Episcopal Palace in Kragujevac
On Thursday, September 13, 2012 His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch in the presence of the members of the Holy Synod of Bishops and many bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church consecrated a newly raised Episcopal palace in Kragujevac. The solemn event was attended by Mr. Mileta Radivojevic, director of the Office for cooperation with Churches and religious communities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. The benefactors who had helped the construction of the spiritual centre of the Diocese of Sumadija were awarded with highest distinctions and letters of gratitude.
After the regular session of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church held in the morning at the new Episcopal palace in Kragujevac, and which was attended by all the members of the Holy Synod (chairman Serbian Patriarch Irinej and members Bishop Vasilije of Srem, Bishop Irinej of Backa, Bishop Jovan of Sumadija and Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic) the rite of consecration of the newly built Episcopal palace began. The Patriarch and the members of Synod were joined by Bishop Vasilije of Zvornik-Tuzla, Bishop Pahomije of Vranje, Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren, Mr. Milera Radojevic, director of the Office for cooperation with Churches and religious communities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, representatives of the public, economy and political life of Kragujevac and Sumadija, benefactors of the construction of the Episcopal palace, faithful people, priesthood and monks.
Serbian Patriarch Irinej performed the rite of the consecration of the Episcopal palace in Kragujevac.
