Serbian Patriarch Irinej in Kitchener-Waterloo
After the services in the Monastery of Holy Transfiguration, the seat of the Diocese of Canada,on Bright Friday, then in Hamilton, the oldest Serbian colony in Ontario and in the greatest Serbian church in Canada, in Mississauga, Serbian Patriarch visited on Monday, April 23, 2012 , the parishes in Waterloo and Kitchener.
The visit to this region which have, according to the census in Canada, the highest percentage of the Serbian people, began with doxology in St. George's church in Waterloo.
Just fifteen kilometres away in the church of Holy Trinity in Kitchener, Serbian Patriarch, at the Acathist to St. John of Shanghai which is served in this church each Monday evening, was welcomed by the full church of believers. There were about 1000 of them. During the Acathist the choir St. Roman of Melod chanted and besides the Patriarch, two bishops and parish priest of this church, protopresbyter-staurophor Vasa Pejovic and protodean Milan Jovanovic, there were also six priests of the Diocese of Canada and local towns who concelebrated.
