Serbian Patriarch Irinej in monastery Podlastva
His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patrarch, was welcomed at the Podlastva Monastery by thousands of faithful gathered to celebrate jubilees: 800 years of the autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church and 1500 years of the monastery of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary - Podlastva.
His Holiness Patriarch was officially welcomed on September 27, 2019 at the Grbalj monastery of Podlastva near Budva, where doxology and evening service were held in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Patriarch Irinej and his entourage were previously welcomed at the Tivat airport by His Eminence Amfolohije, Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro-Littoral, at 6 pm. His Grace Bishop of Diocletian Methodije, clergy, Budva Mayor Marko Carevic participated in the welcoming event.
This is the eighth visit made by the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church to the Montenegro-Littoral Metropolitanate.
After doxology in the Podlastva Monastery church, where thousands of faithful from all sides of the Boka gulf gathered to welcome their Patriarch, the Metropolitan of Montenegro-Littoral Amfilohije thanked His Holiness for his love and blessing, expressing a special joy that the heir of Saint Sava had come to the sacred monastery that celebrates fifteen centuries of existence in the year when we celebrate eight centuries of the autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
