Serbian Patriarch Irinej received Mufti Dr. Mevlud ef. Dudić
The reception took place at the Patriarchate Palace on December 16, 2019.
Mufti Dr. Mevlud ef. Dudic thanked the Serbian Patriarch for the reception when they discussed current challenges facing Orthodox and Muslim believers in the country, region and the world, as well as some opportunities to overcome them.
The Serbian Patriarch emphasized that relations between religious representatives might serve as an example to the believers and that we should always work towards bringing each other closer because "we have much in common".
Mufti ef. Dudic agreed with the indicated statement of the Serbian Patriarch, adding that Muslims and Orthodox Christians are "most close to each other" and that joint efforts should be made to raise young generations who would, above all, be good people. In this respect, Dr. Dudic informed the Patriarch of Serbia on a series of humanitarian activities performed by the Meshihat that assisted Orthodox believers in the Republic of Serbia after some elementary disasters (earthquake in Kraljevo, floods in Obrenovac, etc.).
His Holiness Patriarch Serbian Irinej thanked the Mufti Dr. Dudic for paying the visit and for a very informative conversation that raised many issues of mutual importance for the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Meshihat of the Islamic Community in Serbia.
