Serbian Patriarch Irinej visited Orthodox Institute at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich
On Wednesday, December 4th 2013, His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch was cordially welcomed by professors and students of the Orthodox Instutute in Munich.
Students of the Orthodox Institute greeted Serbian Patriarch Irinej with the church hymn. Vicepresident of the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich (LMU) Professor Dr. Martin Wirsing in his cordial welcome speech pointed out the significant contribution of the Orthodox theology at this eminent University. And professors Athanasios Vletsis (president of the Joint Commission of the Orthodox Institute), Franz Xaver Bischof (dean of the Catholic Faculty of Theology), and Gunther Wenz (representative of the Center for Ecumenical Research of the Evangelical Faculty of Theology) also greeted Serbian Patriarch and emphasized aspects of their ecumenical cooperation with the Orthodox Institute in Munich. On behalf of the students and PhD candidates of the Orthodox Institute Mr. Jovan Stojanovic and Mr. Nenad Savkovic welcomed Patriarch Irinej.
Serbian Patriarch’s visit to the Orthodox Instutute was also attended by Archbishop Mark of Berlin-Germany of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Bishop Sophian of Brashuwa from the Romanian Orthodox Metropolitanate in Germany, archpriest Apostolos Malamousis from the Greek Orthodox Metropolitanate in Germany. Among the present there was also the founder of the Orthodox Institute in Munich, professor Dr. Theodor Nikolaou. Besides the clergy from the Russian, Romanian and Greek Orthodox Churches, the solemn meeting was attended by protopresbyter-stavrophors Milan Pejic and Slobodan Milunovic, archpriest Marinko Rajak and protodeacons Zoran Andric and Damjan Bozic.
