The Serbian Patriarch received the best pupils of religious education
His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej received 16 June 2017 the best pupils of religious education in primary and secondary schools on the area of the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovci.
In cooperation with the Committee for Religious Education of the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovci, the Head of the Serbian Church received the winners at the Archdiocesan competitions in religious teaching. The first three places among high school pupils were won by the Zemun High School (Gymnasium) with its religious teachers Aleksandar Milojkov and Darko Radovanovic; the Military High School with religious teacher priest Slavko Papic , and the XIV High School with religious teacher Velibor Martinovic. Top-ranked were the pupils of the following primary schools: “Vladislav Petković Dis”, “Drinka Pavlovic”, “Gavrilo Princip“ with their religious teachers: Slobodan Petkovic, Nemanja Protic and Nebojsa Bulatovic. In addition to them, the Patriarch received pupils from the Mathematical Gymnasium with their religious teacher Predrag Djuknic.
Mathematical High School pupils traditionally have won the most prestigious awards in the country and abroad. This school is a nursery of talents, and its three students have won scholarships for studying at the famous Oxford University. The School Director Srdjan Ognjenovic thanked His Holiness for the affection he had shown to all the pupils at this reception, stressing that they would memorize this event all their life long.
Traditionally, since 2004, Belgrade primary and secondary schools have held competitions from different areas of religious education. The best students are awarded a one-day trip to our monasteries.
As representatives of the Committee for Religious Education, the event was attended by the Chairman of the Committee Archpriest-Stavrophor Dr. Dragomir Sando, Deacon Branislav Kedzic and Mrs. Sandra Dabic, Secretary of the Committee.
