Serbian Patriarch received OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch received His Excellency Kairat Abdrakhmanov, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities at the Patriarchal Palace in Belgrade, on 16 June 2021.

The Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church thanked High Commissioner Abdrakhmanov for the visit, trust and attention he paid to the position and status of national minorities in the Republic of Serbia. "The church is essentially committed to dialogue. If one of our goals is the coexistence of members of different churches and religious communities, then it is necessary for us to know each other, and in order to get to know each other, we need a dialogue, "Patriarch Porfirije emphasized.

The Patriarch then informed the OSCE High Commissioner about his personal experience of communication and cooperation with members of various national minorities in the Republic of Serbia, as well as the Republic of Croatia, emphasizing that he is sincere and committed to the process of interfaith and interethnic acquaintance and rapprochement.

Expressing satisfaction with the audience with the Serbian Patriarch, who, as the distinguished guest pointed out, enjoys a great reputation in the country and the region, High Commissioner Abdrakhmanov emphasized that he has high hopes for the Serbian Patriarch's help in further developing fruitful interfaith dialogue in this part of Europe.

The audience was attended by the Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Serbia, His Excellency Jan Bratu, associates of the High Commissioner Mr. Zahid Movlazada, Mr. Alessandro Rota, Mrs. Elena Djoreska and the Head of the Cabinet of the Serbian Patriarch, Deacon Dr. Aleksandar Prascevic.
