Serbian Patriarch receives Ambassador of the Republic of Greece
His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch received His Excellency Georgios Diacofotakis, the Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to the Republic of Serbia, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade, on 24 March 2021.
In a more than cordial conversation with Ambassador Djakofotakis, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije expressed gratitude to the state leadership of the Republic of Greece, as well as to the Ambassador himself, for congratulations on the election and enthronement of the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Speaking about the importance of Serbian-Greek friendship, His Holiness emphasized that this year, on March 25, in the Patriarchal Chapel of St. Simeon the Myrrh-gusher, in accordance with epidemiological measures, a traditional prayerfull act of thanksgiving will be served on the occasion of the biggest Greek national holiday - Statehood Day.
Ambassador Djakofotakis thanked Patriarch Porfirije for the cordial welcome and dedication in nurturing brotherly Greek-Serbian relations.
The audience was attended by First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Greece Dimitros Mihalis and the head of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch deacon Aleksandar Prascevic, PhD.
