Serbian Patriarch receives Apostolic Nuncio
His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch received His Excellency Archbishop Luciano Suriani, Apostolic Nuncio in the Republic of Serbia, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 12 March 2021.
His Holiness Patriarch wished a welcome to the Apostolic Nuncio, thanked for an honour he showed him by attending his enthronement in the holiest throne of the primates of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Thanking for the audience, as well as the hospitality he enjoys in Serbia, Archbishop Suriani presented the Serbian Patriarch with a congratulatory message and a gift from His Holiness Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church.
Serbian Patriarch Porfirije asked the Apostolic Nuncio to convey his gratitude to the Pope for his congratulations and good wishes, and especially for his readiness to open, support and nurture dialogue with the Orthodox Church as a whole, as well as with the local Serbian Orthodox Church.
In a spirit of such dialogue, the interlocutors agreed that equal challenges and temptations that threaten not only the values that underlie today's Europe and the world, but also human dignity, face all Christians, and as such require consideration, reflection and effort by all.
The audience was attended by Vicar Bishop Stefan of Remesiana, Secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature Don Aleksandar Ninkovic and the Head of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch Deacon Aleksandar Prascevic, PhD.
