Session of the Diocesan Council and consecration of the Cross on the building of the Spiritual centre and the Grammar school in Zagreb
On Thursday, July 14, 2011 - on the feast day of Sts. Cosmas and Damian the Holy Martyrs and Unmercenaries, in the monastery of St. Petka in Zagreb a session of teh Diocesan council of the Serbian Orthodox Church on the territory of R. Croatia was held.
Besides the presiding Metropolitan Jovan of Zagreb-Ljubljana the session was attended by Bishop Lukijan of Osek-Polje and Baranja, Bishop Sava of Slavonija, Bishop Gerasim of Gornji Karlovci as well as other regular members of the Diocesan council.
On the session it was discussed about the problems and difficulties that had the Serbian Orthodox Church in Croatia. Bishops agreed that the return of the assets went very slow, and that in certain Dioceses there was no return in last couple of years. There are great difficulties with restoration of churches. The works had not begun on churches and parish houses that were demolished during the war.
After the session Bishop Fotije of Dalmatia consecrated the new cross which would be put on the chapel of St. Sava within the new building of the Spiritual centre and the Grammar school. During an inspired speech Bishop Fotije pointed out a great significance of the education for the survival of the Serbian people in this region.
