Significant jubilees of the Serbian Orthodox Church

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the unification of the provincial Churches into the Serbian Patriarchate, 90th anniversary of the activity of the Faculty of the Orthodox Theology of the University of Belgrade and 200th anniversary of the Seminary founded by Dositej Obradovic, yesterday in the chapel of St. John the Theologian at the Faculty of the Orthodox Theology of the University of Belgrade the Divine Liturgy was served by His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch with the concelebration and presence of His Grace Bishop Irinej of Backa, Dean of the Facultz of Theology and Their Graces Bishops: retired Atanasije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina, Pahomije of Vranje, Justin of Timok, Vicar Porfirije of Jegar and a great number of priests and deacons.

After the Divine Liturgy, there was a formal academy opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University of Belgrade, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Backa, who welcomed all present guests, professors and students.

The celebration of the great jubilees of our Church was enhanced by Their Graces Bishops: Vasilije of Zvornik-Tuzla, Jovan of Sumadija, Pahomije of Vranje, Porfirije of Jegar, Minister of FAith Bogoljub Sijakovic, Archbishop of Belgrade Stanislav Hocevar, Apostolic Nuncio in the Republic of Serbia Orlando Antonini, Secretary of the Islamic Community of Serbia Eldin Asceric and many guests.
